DAILY CHEWING STICK: 12TH AUGUST, 2015.
(Deut 34:1-12, Mt 18:15-20).
Good morning Beloved in Christ. How was your night? WE THANK GOD FOR ANOTHER DAY, MAY SUCCESS AND FAVOURS LOCATE US TODAY AND ALWAYS, AMEN. Please dear friends, let us take a pause and examine ourselves truthfully with these questions:
HAVE YOU HAD A QUARREL OR A FIGHT WITH ANYONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS? WHOSE FAULT? (be honest) – YOURS OR HIS/HERS?
DID IT LEAD TO MALICE KEEPING AND HOW LONG DID YOU LIVE LIKE CAT AND DOG?
WHO TOOK THE FIRST STEP OF RECONCILIATION, OR ARE U STILL KEEPING MALICE?
DID YOU ABUSE, CAUSE OR EVEN SWEAR & WISH HIM/HER EVIL?
Do you know that: “Swearing doesn’t make your argument valid; it just tells the other person you have lost your class and control?”
Brethren, as humans who live in communalism, CONFLICTS AND STEPPING ON TOES ARE INEVITABLE CONSCIOUSLY, OR UNCONSCIOUSLY. Hence, the ability and courage to come back together is a BEGINNING, keeping together is a PROGRESS and working together is a SUCCESS. WE ARE ALL ONE AND SHOULD REMAIN ONE. Only ego, belief and fear separates us.
When we allow conflicts to increase without resolving them, then tensions prevail, leading to crisis of unmanageable proportions with many casualties.
Beloved in Christ, today, JESUS IN THE GOSPEL reminds us of the importance of FRATERNAL CORRECTION. He says: IF YOUR BROTHER SINS AGAINST YOU, GO AND TELL HIM HIS FAULT, BETWEEN YOU AND HIM ALONE…! According to JEFFREY MANBER, this is because: “You can’t solve problems until you understand the other side.”
Most of us wait for our OFFENDERS to come and apologize to us, if not there will be WAR! But Jesus is even saying that: WE SHOULD BE THE ONE TO GO AND POINT OUT THE FAULT. Hmmmm! Will PRIDE allow us do this? Listen to what the Book of Sirach 19:13-17 has to say: “Question a friend; perhaps he did not do it; or if he did, so that he may not do it again. Question a neighbour; perhaps he did not say it; or if he said it, so that he may not repeat it. Question a friend, for often it is slander; so do not believe everything you hear. A person may make a slip without intending it…!”
Brethren, when the person refuses to listen to you, you can now involve Witness, the Church, and before casting the person. Even husbands and wives do have conflicts, sometimes they even SLEEP ON THE SAME BED BACK ME, I BACK YOU. It’s good sometimes because: THE QUARREL OF LOVERS IS A RENEWAL OF THEIR LOVE. But you must settle ooo! When you can’t, involve YOUR SPONSORS AND FAMILY AND IF NO HEADWAY, REPORT TO THE CHURCH (YOUR PRIESTS).
May God give us the GRACE to end our quarrels and fights today because like Mahatma Gandhi said: “An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.
GOD BLESS YOU!!!
