DAILY CHEWING STICK: 13TH JULY, 2015.
Exodus 1:8-14,22, Mtt 10:34-11:1
With the emergence of the NEW PHARAOH IN EGYPT who did not know JOSEPH OR ACKNOWLEDGE his past efforts in saving Egypt from famine, the people of Israel began to suffer and were turned to slaves. With his inferiority complex and fear of security, the New Pharaoh saw the ISRAELITES who had come to settle in Egypt in order to escape famine as FOREIGN INTRUDERS AND WERE ACCUSED OF TAKING THE EGYPTIANS’ JOBS AND OCCUPYING SOME OF THEIR COUNTRY’S BEST LANDS.
Brethren, IS THIS SITUATION DIFFERENT IN OUR WORLD TODAY? There seems to be no country in the world without its asylum seekers; HOW ARE THEY TREATED? As we have many Nigerians outside the shores of this country seeking greener pastures, so also we have people from other Countries in Nigeria. As we have so many IGBOS for example in Ibadan, Lagos, Kano, etc, struggling to make ends meet, so also we have the YORUBAS, HAUSAS in other places on the same purpose.
The question that looms large therefore is, HOW ARE FOREIGNERS TREATED? Are the Presidents, Governors, Ezes and Kabiyesis and Imans like PHARAOH IN OUR FIRST READING TODAY? Thanks to Valentina Ibirogba-Unaji, who in her OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF UNITED STATES CONDEMNED THE UNFAIR TREATMENT AND DENIAL OF VISAS TO NIGERIAN CITIZENS. IT’S A BEAUTIFUL PIECE YOU WILL LIKE TO READ.
Beloved in Christ, wherever you are and however you are been treated, let the responsorial psalm today be our consolation: OUR HELP IS IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, WHO MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH (Psalm 123. 8:1-6).
May all travellers today & this week enjoy God’s company. May the sick & dying find relief and consolation in Christ Jesus. And as we begin this new week, may God renew His favours and blessings in our lives. May we see the wonders of God with our eyes. May we receive phone calls and letters of Good News, Breakthroughs, Promotions, Success, Appointments and Employment this New Week.
Please be a HELPER to someone this week as I pray you also meet HELPERS WHO WILL ADD VALUE TO YOUR LIFE, AMEN.
Good morning and God bless you all!
