Yeah! I know! I thought eating vegetables help with weight loss. Absolutely! But NOT ALL veggies and fruits are good for your weight loss trip!
I have heard this a lot, it has even happened to me and then I started realizing some little things do matter in the difficult struggle called weight loss! As if it is not challenging enough to change one’s lifestyle and eating habits, then you find out not all those greens and colourful juicy stuff on your kitchen counter or in the fridge are helpful!
Canned fruits and veggies are an absolute NO-NO! Check the label on the cans and you will be amazingly impressed NOT with the contents!
Dried fruits (yes! dried fruits!) has a LOT of calories. If you have to eat them, exercise caution with portion control! I know this group is considered a healthy treat, however, in very small amounts if you can’t avoid them totally. They are obviously very high in sugar. Why not substitute some raw veggies like carrots, tomatoes and even cucumber?
Too much starchy vegetables such as corn, yams, potatoes, squash, zucchini. Now, this is tricky because according to diabetes.org, starchy vegetables are great sources of vitamins, minerals and fiber. So, since we know starch isn’t fat’s best friend, portion control is key here.
SO which fruits are “free” fruits? Fruits generally get a bad rap due to it’s high sugar contents, however as we know, fruits have many nutrients, so, I will advice going “low” on servings.
